Yogism, Dublin _ eat

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of George's Street arcade lies a swanky little spot. While the arcade is often chilly with a draft blowing through, it's pretty hard not to be tempted by a pot of frozen yogurt to treat yo'self.

Frozen yogurt - it's in the name 'Yogism'. While it would be the obvious thing to have a post about the selection of self-serve frozen yogurt and pots of toppings on offer at Yogism, it seems to be their 'Pancake' menu that always catches my eye - although, saying that, it is hard to resist their salted caramel froyo.. seconds anyone? In a sort of contrast to the chocolatey treats and sweets as part of toppings for their froyo pots, Yogism is fast gaining a reputation for their healthy breakfast menu. Their menu showcases the current trend of wholesome and nutrition dense options from Chia seed bowls to satisfying porridge. But, as I said before, it's the pancakes that are becoming my particular go-to Yogism feast.

Plans were made with my pancake-partner-in-crime for a weekend catch up over some Yogism pancakes. While their branch on Dawson street just off of Stephen's Green would be be our preferential spot on sunny summer days, the indoor warmth of George's street arcade was certainly more appealing on what was turning out to be a bitterly cold Saturday. Once out of the cold, we snatched a table inside fortunately under a heated light. As we waited for our order the sound staff brought over frosted glasses with a bottle of water immersed with mint leaves. The arrival of pancakes signalled in true modern-generation fashion "photo-time" to commence - cheeky thanks to Yogism for the regram.

Of the three pancakes they serve, I went for my usual 'Protein Pancakes' (8.25) - buckwheat, banana, flaxseed and whey protein pancakes, served with scattered mixed berries and pomegranate, topped with a real dollop of almond butter and thick greek yogurt.

Meanwhile my friend opted for the 'Vegan pancakes' (7.75) - buckwheat and banana panckes, served with their homemade coconut yogurt, caramelised pineapple, a dollop of almond butter and chopped cashews.

On the account that of us had not eaten beforehand and hit the gym in anticipation of our pancake brunch, we were pretty eager for the feast. The pancakes were thick and yet relatively fluffy, with the crunch of flaxseed and odd piece of banana in every odd bite - all contrasted nicely with the sticky almond butter and greek yogurt. Both sets of pancakes were incredibly filling, like, so satisfying - the mere fact we decided against froyo on the grounds of being stuffed was testament to how good brunch was. They very much had me set up the day - warm and content.

For around a tenner, I'd say a decent stack of pancakes and a cup of coffee, a cool place to hangout, and somewhere warm out of the cold, is pretty worth it for a weekend brunch. Whether it be some freezing froyo or hearty pancakes - Yogism's got you sorted if you're feeling hot or cold.
